Question: My aloe plant is so heavy it is laying over and I want to repot before it comes out of the soil. What do you suggest so I don’t kill it? Also, some of the bottom leaves are going flat. Answer: Aloe vera works well indoors or out. Watering is the key. Although it is an extremely drought-tolerant plant, getting too dry can cause what you are seeing. Too much or too little can both be problems. You can prop the plant up or separate some of the leaves or small shoots (pups) and create new plants. The dried-up, flat leaves should be removed. Even though aloe vera can tolerate indoor conditions, it does strongly prefer the full sun outdoors. You should try both as soon as the weather warms up.
